Doing Twice
The sounds came through, saw my housekeeper swinging the gates and pleading for help. No matter how swift she could run or move from the inside, the attacker reached her right leg. She wrestled with her garden trowel until the assailant surrendered and caught a glimpse of me, getting ready to leave the house. Without warning, I leaped the four feet cabinet of my garage, wearing this formal dress with matching heels. Those angry eyes read my fears, digging my past - - the little girl who climbed a tree, the dog’s sharp teeth shredding the tip of her clothes.
